The Writing Center at UConn Waterbury assists students with essays, lab reports, term papers, academic or creative writing, multimodal projects, résumés, cover letters, and personal statements. The Waterbury Campus Library is dedicated to serving the research needs of the students and faculty of the University of Connecticut. Upon entering the library on the Waterbury campus, the first thing you’ll likely notice are all of the books. We have a lot of them! And, there are millions more throughout the UConn system, all of which you have access to.

But, we have so much more than books! Student Health & Wellness (SHaW) is dedicated to supporting students’ physical and mental well-being through comprehensive healthcare services. SHaW offers medical care, mental health counseling, wellness programs, and health education to help students thrive both academically and personally. With a focus on holistic well-being, SHaW provides access to primary care, mental health support, nutrition counseling, and wellness initiatives that empower students to make healthy choices and succeed at UConn.

  • Waterbury Campus Nurse Navigators: A nurse navigator is a nurse that can guide students, offer support, education, advocate, and assist with coordination of care for acute or chronic healthcare needs including referrals to medical services in the community. A nurse is available for students on campus or through our 24/7 advice nurse line at 860-486-4700. This is a free and confidential resource.
  • Clinical Case Manager for Mental Health Services: Our mental health professionals can provide short-term counseling. For students seeking more intensive treatment, our mental health case managers can connect students to appropriate local providers with experience working with college students.

The Center for International Students and Scholars (CISS) opened in July 2022 to create a welcoming space for international students and visiting scholars and bring together services for international students and visiting scholars at the Storrs campus.

First generation students come from families where neither a parent nor guardian has a four-year degree or higher from a college or university. Many students whose parents have degrees outside of the United States also identify as First Gen.

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at UConn Waterbury is a member-driven program offering non-credit learning experiences (courses, lectures, and special events) to all adults who are 50 or older and want to engage socially and intellectually with their peers as teachers and learners. OLLI also provides fertile ground for the exchange of ideas and diverse opportunities for partnership with other cultural, educational, and arts organizations.

The Office of Community Standards, centrally located on the Storrs Campus, strives to facilitate a climate that promotes integrity, responsibility, and accountability within the University of Connecticut community.

Student Health & Wellness (SHaW) is dedicated to supporting students’ physical and mental well-being through comprehensive healthcare services. SHaW offers medical care, mental health counseling, wellness programs, and health education to help students thrive both academically and personally. With a focus on holistic well-being, SHaW provides access to primary care, mental health support, nutrition counseling, and wellness initiatives that empower students to make healthy choices and succeed at UConn.

  • Waterbury Campus Nurse Navigators: A nurse navigator is a nurse that can guide students, offer support, education, advocate, and assist with coordination of care for acute or chronic healthcare needs including referrals to medical services in the community. A nurse is available for students on campus or through our 24/7 advice nurse line at 860-486-4700. This is a free and confidential resource.
  • Clinical Case Manager for Mental Health Services: Our mental health professionals can provide short-term counseling. For students seeking more intensive treatment, our mental health case managers can connect students to appropriate local providers with experience working with college students.

Campus Safety

The UConn Police Department Waterbury Substation is located on the ground floor of the UConn Waterbury’s main building. Police Officers are responsible for public safety in the main building as well as an attached parking facility. In addition to normal police patrols, there are emergency phones and remote cameras throughout the facility which assist police in providing a safe atmosphere within which students, staff, faculty and visitors may pursue their educational goals.
